Silly mistakes not to repeat when making cosplay props #2

Really need to stop making stupid mistakes. This one cost me a lot of time cleaning up after it.

Handle fabric dye in places which are super easy to clean in case of mishaps. And water soluble packet means don’t handle with wet gloves!

The dye packet’s packaging started dissolving in different spots and before I realized, there’s a hole at the bottom and I got fabric dye on my bedroom floor. Good thing I was very close to the bathroom when it happened.

The only good news is that the purple looks like the color I was going for after all.

Silly mistakes not to repeat when making cosplay props #1

A lesson to my future self, a reminder in case my memory cleared its own cache again:

DO NOT use brown marker on white surface to outline shape that needs to be painted with gold (or any) acrylic paint.

Use whatever marker is closest color available. Heck, go outside and buy a marker of the same color (and get some fresh air). The reason is because the brown was a huge pain in the butt to cover up, and managed to dye the area near it orange or pink, depending on the paint. It severely lengthened the painting process.

NaNoWriMo 2012

Erm yeah. I’m taking part this year so except for the weekly K impression posts, I probably won’t be writing many blog posts. Unless there’s something for Dragon Nest SEA that I really want to blog about.

I’ll still reply to comments. =D

NaNoWriMo 2010!

Yup, I’m participating! For good or for bad, haha. It has officially started where I lived, but I haven’t written a word down yet and I have work in a few hours time. *is sad*

Oh, I swapped my Miku clock on the right side for a word count widget, which is going to stay there for the entire month.

Wish me luck!

My projects

I find myself working with some kind of design or programming languages and thinking about what I can do with certain ideas and concepts often. Thus, the spawn of my projects. At the moment, they are just little pet projects, but maybe one day I will manage to make something that a lot of people will use. ^^

Userstyles

I am a great believer of seeing the internet the way I want to see it, using the Firefox’s Stylish add-on or Chrome’s Stylist and the Userstyles.org website. I also enjoy applying my CSS knowledge (not much, but not little either) to make skins that make websites look pleasing to me and to others. Or just for my convenience. 🙂

WordPress

It shouldn’t be surprising that I have urges to do things to make my WordPress experience better. 😛

Here’s what I’ve done so far.

Tangofy Icon Set: Rainbow Mix

I used the Silk WordPress admin menu icon set with Tangofy plugin because I didn’t like the monochromatic icons, but I didn’t particularly like the whole of that or any of the other sets. So yesterday when I was playing with the custom taxonomy thing for Drache’s test site, I got side-tracked and modified the admin icons into a set that I like. This is the result, Rainbox Mix.

No more NaNoWriMo!

Until next year that is. This year I wrote 11k+ words, so I didn’t win. I did realize how I should approach my NaNo next year, so it’s not totally bad. And I’m still going to work on my piece still, so yup, it’s all good.

However, it also leaves me with a lot of chores that I should do but haven’t done for the sake of concentrating (and failing to, at times) on writing. So the goal for this month is getting them all done. Or at least the more urgent and important ones. Yup.

I’m modifying a word count plugin right now so that I can keep track of how much words I continue to churn out of my writings, but it is being pissy and not cooperative. >.< If it does work, then I may release it or something, it may become useful for other people. =)
