Introducing “FFXIV.SS” project

FFXIV.SS is short for “FFXIV Screenshots” and it’s a mini personal project that I just started.

I noticed that I have been taking a lot of screenshots but not sharing them much. Partly I wasn’t sure which platform I wanted to share them to, consistently. Then I remembered, I could just post them here and post links to social media instead. 😀

So basically, I’ll try to share at least one screenshot a week that is taken in FFXIV. That’s it. I don’t want to set any requirements or limitations, just 1 screenshot a week. It can be a screenshot taken years ago or a minute ago, can be edited for dramatic effect or completely unedited, can be a series of screenshots or just a single one, anything goes. No scheduled date or time. I can share more than once a week if I feel like it too.

These posts will be tagged with FFXIV.SS. I’ll see if I can make a gallery out of them somehow but that’s for later down the future.

FFXIV.SS #01 – Sleeping under the Stars

Where better to sleep on a flying bed, but under the blanket of stars.

Horror movie idea??

I can’t really watch horror movies or shows or whatever media (I absolutely do not want to give myself nightmares) thus I am super unfamiliar with most of the horror stories out there. But my scumbag brain likes to imagine things. I don’t know if something like this exists (and this is not a ‘please recommend me similar horror movies’ post, thank you!!!), but I just had some inspiration for a horror movie plot:

Why hiatus from Twitter?

I posted a lengthy thread on Twitter about taking an indefinite hiatus from it and here I’ll just combine the whole thing together instead of reading separate tweets.

How to input fractions in Microsoft Word

Lately, I’m doing freelance work helping to produce questions for a tuition center. I learned new things in Microsoft Words as I went along until yesterday, I was stumped trying to convert 3/10 into a proper fraction in-line instead of in its separate little equation block.

Updated (6 August 2019):
So… I actually found how to make the little equation block to display inline. It’s in the drop-down menu option, “Change to Inline”.

This is so much easier than the other method below, but I’m going to leave that in for when equation blocks can’t work.

As always, a bit of Googling saved me from further headache. I found the solution initially from a youtube video but this blog post ‘Mathematical Formulas in Microsoft Word‘ is a bit more detailed

The gist of it is to use equation fields, but hitting Ctrl + F9 and typing { eq \f (a,b) } , substituting a and b for whatever numbers or text of the fraction. Then right-click on the whole bracketed text (which should have a gray background now) and select ‘Toggle Field Codes‘ and it should convert itself.

The video shows it in action and the blog post have way more things than just fractions. This post of mine essentially is my note to self, because I have a feeling I may need to check back here again several times

PS. My Microsoft Words is 2016 version, but it seems to work for other versions too, older or newer.

A wallpaper worthy screenshot from Ori and the Blind Forest DE

A screenshot taken at the Sunstone in Ori and the Blind Forest
At the Sunstone

Took this screenshot during my playthrough of ‘Ori and the Blind Forest (Definitive Edition)’ around 2 to 3 weeks ago and I’m so in love with how beautiful this game is. If only, for this screenshot, I positioned the character a step more to the right so that everything is perfectly lined up… oh well.

On another note, I’ll start posting more, starting next week. These past few months I’ve been active on Twitch, streaming myself playing various games (hey, check out my channel if you haven’t). After finishing each game, I have so much thoughts I want to put down, so I figure I’ll start doing that.

Zone of the Enders : The 2nd Runner : M∀RS release date!

I was so super excited when the VR version of Zone of the Enders : The 2nd Runner was announced. The PS2 version of this game gave me some of my fondest gaming memories and I feel like it spoiled me for mecha action games (granted, I’m pretty bad at most of them).

And now there’s a release date! And it’s this year September!! Just 4 months away! Check out the details at the official site! And look at the new trailer!

With this game, Neko Atsume VR (releasing at the end of this month!) and a few other interesting VR games such as Moss on my radar, the urge to get a Playstation VR or the Steam/PC equivalent is getting so much stronger.

Vocaloid : Blessed Messiah and the Tower of AI

Original version (without English sub):
【ボカロ10人】祝福のメシアとアイの塔【オリジナルMV】/【VOCALOID 10】『Blessed Messiah and the Tower of AI』【Original MV】

I fell in love with this song from Hitoshizuku × Yama△, with Suzunosuke‘s lovely artwork. They are the same team who did the Synchronicity series, which I love so much, so I knew I’m getting into something good. I just didn’t know how much of a feel trip this one would be. ;_; Consider yourself warned.

I also want to gush about how beautiful this video is. The 3D modeled animation and 2D art worked together so well. Watching this team’s works is always such an experience.

2018 Remake of “The End of Hatsune Miku”

Also known as “Disappearance of Hatsune Miku” (of which I have posted about its English lyrics long ago), a famous Vocaloid song of extremely high singing speed has reached its 10th anniversary!!

The remake version is a little different although the melody is mostly the same, and I’m still not sure how well I like it. Reading the lyrics still make me tear up a bit. ;_;

The song’s creator [email protected] posted this remake version on his official Youtube channel where he has posted several other remakes and a lot of his newer creations, do check them out~!

Intro to Dappervolk Beta

Dappervolk Logo

More than a year ago, I started playing Flight Rising, a pet raising game site focused mainly on dragons and from friends that I made there, I discovered a Kickstarter for a game called Dappervolk. It has the exact kind of storybook-like art-style that I’m instantly attracted to. In fact, it actually reminds me a bit of Legend of Mana.

So when the Closed Beta Testing started a while ago, I had to give it a try, even though everything except account ID and name will be wiped.

Here is a quick introduction to the game. My first impressions will be in another post on its own since this one has grown a little long.

Monster Hunter World Event Item Tracker

Monster Hunter World, Spring Blossom Festival

Monster Hunter World is currently having its first seasonal event, the Spring Blossom Festival, from 6th April to 19th April 2018, so there’s a bunch of new events. What’s more, many past event quests have made their return for this duration.

With the amount of quest items to collect and craft, I had some trouble keeping track of what’s for what and how many more. To help with that, I whipped up a quick item tracker on Google Sheet and decided to share it.

Just hop over, make a copy of the Google Sheet and you’ll have your own copy of the tracker sheet. I’ve also included an “Updates” tab so if I add new event items in my own copy in the future, those will show up automatically without messing things up in the Tracker tab.

Nifty eh? 😀 Hope it’s useful.

By the way, if you need more information about the Spring Blossom Festivals or the event quests, you can check out these two places:

Have a fruitful Spring Blossom Festival~!
