Reminder to self, don’t update the Sparkling theme to latest version (again) yet because somewhere between 1.7.7 to 1.8.1, a change in the backend caused the child theme’s previous Theme Option settings to not be used. Instead, the parent theme’s settings is being used.

The only way to fix is to downgrade the theme back to a version where the child theme settings are still used, note down what those settings are, then upgrade the parent theme, then implement those settings again. Urgh, so troublesome.

Source, although it’s for a different theme by the same theme developer, it describes the exact same problem so I’m guessing the mentioned framework is being used for Sparkling as well.

I’m not sure if it’s because I changed the permalink structure or because of the way I swap the live site with the test site, but I seemed to have lost the data on how much Facebook shares or likes that my posts have. @_@

Oh well… they were nice to look at but what’s gone is gone.

Shizu.Yue, new name, new start

Although I am a little late with this announcement…. With a brand new look and lots of changes, Apathetic Moon is now making a return as Shizu.Yue!
♪♪\(^ω^\)( /^ω^)/♪♪

I have secretly been working on this new version of the site for a while, on and off. Using Sparkling theme as base for the appearance, I customized it to retain the old color scheme that I am still extremely fond of and also to keep a sense of familiarity, but I also added 2 new color schemes for Gaming type posts and Project type posts.

For easier navigation, some content had their categories and tags changed, and the permalink structure of the posts are also different now, so I hope it won’t cause any inconvenience.

There are still a few more minor things that I wish to add or do to the site, but they can be implemented directly, so I decided to add them in the future.

In any case, welcome to Shizu.Yue. 🙂

Finally able to post from phone!

To be fair, it’s not WordPress Android app’s fault, but I had been disappointed for so long it’s making me crazily happy.

And I just found out I could pair my PS3 keyboard with my phone. Just think of all the possibilities!

Now powered by WordPress 3.5

I’ve been reading about it for a while, and finally got to updating the sites. It’s a major update to the media uploading section, and it’s promising to be so much better. So far nothing seems broken, but I will continue keeping an eye out.

What’s interesting, is the Jetpack update. Publicize seems to be the post to social network thing on WordPress.com and I was looking for something similar some time ago (and still wasn’t very happy with the one I found). Gonna try it out later when I have the time.

Post by email, well that one is interesting. I haven’t been able to get my WordPress for Android app working with my multisite installation so I couldn’t blog on the go. Will be exploring this too.

Jetpack just seems to get better and better, especially now that I don’t have to de-spam the comments so often.

Loving the WP Post Formats Admin UI

WordPress Post Formats Admin UI

Just started using this plugin although I knew of it for months, and I want to kick myself in the head for being that lazy. The plugin makes it so that posting using different post formats is so much more intuitive. And the appearance is so simple and clean. Very awesome.

FB Integration

I tried the plugin ‘Facebook Page Publish‘ but I don’t know if I screwed up a setting somewhere or there’s some new changes in the backend of Facebook, but the links I shared could not be seen by others.

So, I’m now testing the plugin released by Facebook for WordPress. Let’s see how it goes, shall we?

*Update* Apparently, I made a colossal mistake when setting app privacy. Argh, can I blame that on my inner paranoia parrot?

Changes coming up, maybe

Not big ones, just trying to tie in some social media elements for easier access. Things may go a bit nutty at times, but I’m working on it!

*Update*

1) I have switched the comment system over to Jetpack Comments system so visitors can now login to their Facebook, Twitter and WordPress.com accounts to comment. Convenient eh?

2) There’s now a Facebook page for Apathetic Moon! I made it for social media integration purposes, but feel free to drop in and chat with me~

Look out for more changes~

Hmm… there’s something wrong with the paging of comments. It’s turned off for now, but I’m going to have to fix it later. >.<

Return of the Captcha

Captcha is back after my brief test for two days and the results is an average of 40 spams per day. I had Akismet and a honeypot type anti-spam, but alas, a few dozen spams still managed to slip through. So, sorry for the ugly, but it seems I need a Captcha.

Some new stuff added

Most of the additions have to do with comments. The most prominent is the CAPTCHA, because I have a rather rampant spam problem. Another is that comments posted will not need approval before they show up and visitors’ comments can be edited within a certain period of time.

Another thing, which is kind of really odd bug.

Prettifying my blog, part one.

Using Leather theme as a temporary theme, I don’t like some parts of it. I hope I can get Color Paper to work again, I’m insanely in love with that theme like nobody’s business. Maybe I’ll just go ahead and make it a Twenty Ten child theme, post format friendly so I can make my miniblog/microblog/tumblelog. That idea’s been bouncing around in my head for a while now anyway.

My experiment with the Lifestream plugin is not very satisfactory so far. I think I’ll tackle that one much later.
